Hello, I am Madalyn Northuis. I am currently a junior at Hope College. In addition to majoring in history and classics, and minoring in women's studies, I am also a member of the ​Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Scholars Program in the Arts and Humanities. The Mellon Program, which​ encourages students to enhance their educational experience through a series of interdisciplinary original research projects that combine traditional research methods with new technology and unique productions. As a member of the Program, I have had the opportunity to work closely with professors who have encouraged me to tailor courses and research projects to my interests. After completing my undergraduate degree, I hope to attend graduate school to study history and women's studies. I plan to write my dissertation on Richards in the hope that my work will help her receive the recognition she deserves as America’s first lady of science.
